Businesses and corporations could argue that their only real commitments are to maximize the profit to their shareholders while staying within the legal boundaries of a nation wherein they operate.. As Milton Friedman (1962) argued that “There is one and only one social responsibility of business – to use its resources and to engage in activities designed to increase its profits so long as it stays within the rules of the game”. However, the world has changed significantly and now the time has companies to think beyond profit making. It is fair to claim that they have significant responsibility to local and global societies beyond simply making profit.
An introduction to Gulf Oil and Refineries Company
Gulf Oil & Refineries has been operating in Gulf countries since year 2000. They have been involved in manufacturing petrol, diesel from crude oil. It has been making huge amount of profits since it started operations in Gulf Countries. Their profit drivers were availability of low cost crude oil, technically advanced processing systems, highly qualified technical staff, continuous training and development of staff policies etc. The company has been doing really well in terms of complying with environmental safety policies of different nations. We often take our knowledge of famous people for granted. However, the process of reputation construction is far from being a simple and straightforward process. We often neglect consciously or unconsciously the basis of the reputation and do little to investigate the sources and accuracy of reputations. Taking Cleopatra, the last Ptolemaic queen of Egypt, as a case study, you are required to read the excerpt on Cleopatra’s reputation construction below to build your understanding of the complexity of the theme of reputation before embarking on more readings that would help you address the subthemes numbered 1-5 that follow:
In our search for Cleopatra we try to be objective and say that we are approaching the ancient material with an eye to simply extracting the truth about what really happened, but in practice this is harder than it sounds. We are all so imbued with our own values that they tend to creep in even when we are determined to shut them out, and the concept of ‘truth’ or the ‘facts’ is notoriously slippery. On the one hand we have so few ‘facts’ from the ancient world, and on the other we have different versions of the truth… Our explorations of the past do have meaning. What we bring to the past can cast it in a new light and help to bring out aspects of that history that have previously remained in the shadows, or been deliberately distorted in the explorations of those who have gone before us…

ولقد صاحب انتشار هذا النوع من التليفونات ومحطاته عدد كبير من الدراسات والأبحاث التي تشير إلى الأضرار الصحية الناجمة عن هذه المعدات، والأضرار الناجمة عن استخدام هذا التليفون ودوره في تلوث الوسط المحيط بالموجات الكهرومغناطيسية والتطرق إلى بعض المعايير العامة لمحاولة تجنب أو التقليل بقدر الامكان من هذه الأضرار، والتي يجب اتباعها طبقاً للمعايير الدولية في هذا المجال، وتوضيح الاستخدام الآمن لها وذلك بهدف توعية المواطن بهذه الأضرار وإمكانية تلافيها.

تعتبر مشكلات الوعي الصوتي ((Phonological awareness والذي يقصد به قدرة الطفل على إدراك أن الكلمة التي يسمعها تتكون من أصوات فردية تكّون أو تشّكل تلك الكلمة، فكلمة (راس) مثلا تتكون من ثلاثة أصوات،،، أحد أهم المشكلات التي تنذر بوجود صعوبات القراءة في وقت لاحق، وقد تزايدت البحوث العلمية في السنوات القليلة الماضية التي تدعم هذا الافتراض.. والطفل الذي لا يمتلك الوعي الصوتي لن يدرك بأن الكلمة الواحدة تتكون من عدة أصوات ولن يكون قادرا على فصل أصوات الكلمة، أو تحديد عدد الأصوات في الكلمة الواحدة. ولا يستطيع هؤلاء الطلبة فهم أو استخدام المبادئ الأساسية المطلوبة لفك رموز الكلمات، مثلا عند تكرار مقطع صوتي معين في عدة كلمات ( مثل: قام، قال، قاد، قاع). ولهذا فإن مشكلات الوعي الصوتي والمعالجة الصوتية ترتبط بشكل كبير مع مشكلات القراءة، فالطفل الذي لا يدرك تلك المبادئ لن يكون قادرا على ترجمة الكلام المطبوع أو المكتوب الى أصوات لغوية أثناء عملية القراءة. في ضوء ذلك وضّح العلاقة بين الوعي الصوتي الفونولوجي بالعسر القرائي (الدسلكسيا) مستعيناً بذلك بالمراجع العلمية الحديثة.

Using functions from both: the "drawingLibarary.js" and the "stringLibrary.js", write JavaScript program to do the following:
a. Draw a simple house using a triangle, a rectangle. Then draw three horizontal lines under the house representing the grass.
b. Read a short sentence (not just a word) from the user describing the house. Print the sentence in the output window.
c. Print the sentence reversed in the output window.
d. Read a single character from the user.
e. Check if the character is contained in the sentence you read from the user.

يعد السلوك العدواني أحد الخصائص التي يتصف بها الأطفال المضطربين سلوكيا، كما أنه ينتشر بين الأطفال المعاقين أكثر من انتشاره بين الأطفال العاديين. ومن هذا المنطلق فقد انصب اهتمام الباحثين على دراسته باعتبار أن النتائج المترتبة عليه تعد أكثر خطرا على المجتمع من النتائج المترتبة على نتائج السلوكيات الأخرى التي يتصف بها الأطفال المضطربين سلوكيا وانفعاليا. في مقالة من خمس عشرة صفحة تحدث عن السلوك العدواني من حيث تعريفه، ومظاهره، وأسبابه، وقياسه وتشخيصه، وأساليب ضبطه.

You have studied in Block 1 the fundamental concepts, techniques, and mechanisms used in wireless communication in general and in more particularly in IEEE 802.11 standard. To in-depth your understanding, you will discover the Wi-Fi network in this question through real practical measurement. Therefore, you should install the Wi-Fi network discovery tool inSSIDer using the setup file attached to the TMA. Relevant information related to this software can be found in its homepage (i.e., www.metageek.net). For being able to answer to the following questions, you should install and run the software on your mobile device. We recommend that you use laptop having Microsoft Windows as operating system and connected to the network through Wi-Fi.
1. What are the SSIDs of the access points (AP) detected by your mobile device? Prove your answer by providing snapshot of the table listing the relevant information of all the detected APs.

2. Provide the SSID and MAC address of the best AP (i.e., in terms of the quality of the received signal) to be connected to your mobile device if the access is granted?

3. What is the Wi-Fi protocol version used by the best AP and its maximum supported rate.

4. What is the channel number used by the best AP? Determine its lower and upper frequency.

5. Provide the graph of signal strength (in dBm) of every occupied channel. Is there any other less noisy channel that could be selected for the best AP? Clarify your answer.

6. Provide the graph of the signal strength (in dBm) variation over time.

7. Calculate in Watts the average signal power received by your mobile device from the best AP?
